India’s First Solar-based EV Charging Station on Delhi-Chandigarh Highway | Indian Business Times

The Delhi-Chandigarh route now boasts India’s first EV-friendly highway with the installation of the country’s first Solar-based Electric Vehicle Charging (SEVC) station at Karnal Lake Resort. This remarkable milestone highlights India’s growing electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, driven by the government’s strong commitment to promoting sustainable mobility. Installed by BHEL under the FAME-1 scheme, the SEVC station aims to eliminate range anxiety for EV users. The initiative is part of a broader push to create an extensive EV network across the nation, with 19 additional charging points planned along the Delhi-Chandigarh route.

With the rise of EV adoption in India, driven by models like Tata Nexon EV and MG ZS EV, the government’s subsidies and growing infrastructure are making electric vehicles more accessible. The shift towards EVs is spurred by escalating fuel prices and the quest for eco-friendly alternatives. Tesla’s planned entry into the Indian market further emphasizes the industry’s growth potential.
