India's Push to Attract Global Battery Makers: Tesla, Samsung, LG Eye Local Manufacturing

India is making strategic efforts to attract global battery manufacturers, including Tesla Inc., Samsung, and LG Energy, to establish local production facilities as part of its push for a sustainable clean transportation supply chain.

The government plans to host five roadshows next month across key countries—United States, Germany, France, South Korea, and Japan—to persuade major companies like Panasonic, Northvolt, and Toshiba to invest in India’s burgeoning battery industry. This is part of a $2.4 billion incentive program to boost local battery manufacturing.

Leading domestic firms such as Reliance Industries, Adani Group, and Tata Group have already shown interest in the initiative. However, foreign companies have been more hesitant, according to officials. With these incentives and strategic engagements, India hopes to strengthen its position in the global electric vehicle (EV) supply chain.
The Indian Business Times follows the latest updates and provides insights on the evolving landscape of battery manufacturing in India, a critical move for the country’s green energy ambitions. This development could redefine the future of India’s energy and transportation sectors, driving both environmental and economic growth.
